Environment Conclave Held at SSM College of Engineering, Parihaspora Baramulla

An Environment Conclave focusing on ecological challenges was today organized by SSM college in collaboration with Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization.

The primary objective of the program was to inspire the youth to form a dedicated committee for reviving damaged environmental sites, including wetlands, springs, and other vulnerable ecosystems. The conclave emphasized that the initiative would not remain confined to seminars alone but would also extend into practical action on the ground.

During the event, participants were sensitized to the ways human activities contribute to environmental degradation and were encouraged to take responsibility for restoring natural resources. A large number of students and faculty members of the college actively participated in the deliberations.

The Chief Guests at the conclave shared their insights. Mohd. Yousuf Targami, MLA & Chairman, Legislative Committee on Environment extended his full support and help to ensure that this mission is successful.

Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman, Nigeen Lake Conservation organisation. He promised that NLCO and SSM will bring about positive changes in the ecologically sensitive Kashmir and work on the ground level.

Ms Haya Qazi, Education Administrator of SSM College emphasised the importance of citizens and youth participation in the restoration of environment. She mentioned that the youth committed will work throughout the year and take up different sites for restoration.

The dignitaries highlighted the urgency of protecting Kashmir’s fragile ecosystem and called upon the younger generation to become active guardians of the environment.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to undertake sustained efforts for the conservation and revival of natural resources, ensuring a greener and more sustainable future.
